Seasonal Expressions 1 New Product Blog Hop

Welcome to the Seasonal Expressions 1
New Product Blog Hop!

This hop I am following {Michelle Stewart's Blog.}   We have 20 Close to My Heart Consultants participating in our Seasonal Expressions 1 New Product Blog Hop. If you lose your place while traveling through our blog hop, the complete list of participants can be found here.

Don't you love seeing new product?  I know that I do.  I wanted to make a card box and 6 cards for my January Card Club.  So I decided to bring back the card I made for the January Stamp of the Month Blog Hop and add 5 more.  Then I found a pattern for an easy to make box and Voila! here is my project.

This is a super easy card to put together.  They are basically all the same pattern.  At first I drove myself crazy trying to stamp the January SOTM onto a rectangular piece of White Daisy cardstock.  Then I realized that I could stamp on a 4" x 12" strip of cardstock and cut the stamped image with my paper cutter, leaving a 1/4" border around the stamped image.

I colored the border with various colors of Shin Han markers and if they needed a bit more of a mat, I added that as well.  The matted stamped panels were popped up with thin 3D foam tape.

I used one of our new paper packs called Chelsea Gardens (X7230B).  I love the blues and greens in this paper pack and was instantly attracted to it.

All of the stamping is done in Charcoal Ink and the matting was done with Charcoal cardstock. I used a second stamp set and thin cuts from the Chelsea Gardens line called Chelsea Gardens Cardmaking Stamp and Thin Cuts (Z4158).  Sweet Leaf cardstock was used for the leaves. I used the Chelsea Gardens Dots and Gems as embellishments.

The box I made is called a Flip Top Box.  The instructions for it can be found here

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I would love for you to show me a little love by leaving me a comment and then please go to our next artist, {Melissa Robinson's Blog} and see what she has made with this adorable stamp set.

You can purchase this stamp set as well as any of the supplies listed above on my website.

In Any Case...with Melinda and Melissa

Join us twice a month as we CASE, “Copy And Selectively Edit”, artwork created by the Art Department of Close To My Heart as showcased in the current Idea Books and our Make It From Your Heart How-To Books.
On the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, at 7 pm CST, we will direct you towards a piece of art and recreate it using the exact products or others that compliment its initial design. Tips, techniques and assembly directions will be shared in detail to help you recreate them on your own.
As you reproduce the items we have shared, post them on social media using the hashtag #ctmhinanycase. We will randomly search that hashtag and reward those who CASE our items. Winners will be announced on our blogs so be sure to follow us!

****************************************

This week I am recreating (and sharing all of the details) for the "Boy Wonder" card found on page 58 of the brand new, just released Seasonal Expressions 1 Idea Book. Don't have a copy of our new catalog? You will receive one free with your first order placed on my website or you can see it here online, or let me know you want one and I will be happy to drop one in the mail to you.

After you check out my sweet card, head on over to my Partner in CASEing, Melissa Robinson, and check out how to make the Supergirl card. Here is my version of the Boy Wonder card.

I used the Super Boy Stamp + Thin Cuts (Z4162) to cut out my Super Boy.  Then I stamped him out with the accompanying My Acrylix stamp using Archival Black Ink (Z3271).

Tip:  I used Archival Black Ink because I watercolored my Super Boy with my Watercolor Paints (Z3132) and our wonderful Paintbrush Set (Z3188) and Archival Black Ink is waterproof.

I let my little boy dry after I finished watercoloring him.

Tip:  I made a boo boo on his left tennis shoe.  I colored outside the line and then I tried to fix it.  The color red is not easily fixed and spread.  Oh NO!!!  I let it dry and painted over it with white watercolor paint and was SO relieved to see that the red was gone.

Here's the card diagram.

This is how I assembled the card.  I centered and adhered the Gray Weave Patterned Paper onto the Sapphire Cardstock (X5957).  I then added tape to the reverse side of the Sapphire Cardstock where the Grey Ribbon will go.  I then took the Light Grey Ribbon (Z4145) and adhered each end of the ribbon to the tape. I do the same with the twine.  Here's a picture.

Tip:  Applying tape to the reverse of your project and attaching your ribbon or twine will allow you to use less ribbon and twine on your project, saving money.  Who doesn't want to save money on their crafting?  The ends of the ribbon/twine will stay in place until you can adhere the panel to the card base, which is your next step.

Now you adhere the pieces of patterned paper, starting with the yellow patterned paper first.  Here's a picture of my project at this step.

I cut a slant from one end of the blue and white strip and the Sapphire pieces of patterned paper. The pieces are overlapping and slanted slightly as pictured.

Now I stamp the "Boy Wonder" sentiment using Cranberry Ink (Z2816) and then pop it up using thin 3D foam tape (Z2060). And I now can add my Super Boy image, also popped up.

Tip: I added 3D foam tape under the parts of the Super Boy image that attach directly to the card base, but I add glue dots to the parts that are attached to the popped up sentiment. This keeps the image level. Since my little boy was watercolored, he is slightly warped so this flattens him out.

Now I tied two knotted pieces of white twine (Z3216) and frayed the edges by unwinding the ends with my scissors. I just pick at them until they unwind. The card is now finished with Stargazer complements and Chelsea Gardens Dots & Gems (Z4155).

Other Supplies Used:
Chelsea Gardens Paper Pack (X7230B)
Stargazer Paper Pack (X7229B)
Stargazer Complements (X7229C)

This stamp set is full of large sentiments which will be great for cards or scrapbooks.  I couldn't decide which sentiment to use so I am going to make a card with each of these sentiments as a set.

Here is my first card.

Did you know that we have a brand new catalog that went live today?  I decided to use one of our new paper packs called Chelsea Gardens (X7230B).  I love the blues and greens in this paper pack and was instantly attracted to it.

All of the stamping is done in Charcoal Ink and the matting was done with Charcoal cardstock. I used a second stamp set and thin cuts from the Chelsea Gardens line called Chelsea Gardens Cardmaking Stamp and Thin Cuts (Z4158)Sweet Leaf cardstock was used for the leaves. I used the Chelsea Gardens Dots and Gems as embellishments.

Close to My Heart You Are Here Cricut Collection Blog Hop

Welcome to the Close to My Heart
You are Here Cricut Collection Blog Hop!

This hop I am following {Melissa Robinson's Blog.}   We have 12 Close to My Heart Consultants participating in this Just for Fun Blog Hop. If you lose your place while traveling through our blog hop, the complete list of participants can be found here.

Did you know that Close to My Heart introduced a new Cricut Collection in August?  It is called You are Here.  Look at All You receive with this collection.

Whether you're traveling abroad, taking a road trip, or enjoying a relaxing staycation, this Cricut® collection is sure to have everything you need to document your journey. From outdoor escapades and family reunions to spa retreats and holiday outings, you'll find shapes and sentiments for every pit stop along the road of life.

Collection includes the following:
1 – cartridge (700 images: shapes, titles, phrases, and font)
3 – My Acrylix® D-size stamp sets
1 – Enchantment cardstock combo pack (two-toned)

View the shapes in the cartridge here.

One of the things I love about our cartridges is that there are 700 images and they can be used for scrapbooking, cardmaking, and all kinds of papercrafting.  This would be an incredible gift for any papercrafter.

I decided to make a card that could be used when maybe someone is having a bad time and you would like them to know that you are thinking of them.

I watercolor washed my background paper, and then I cut out my ship in a variety of papers.  I used our white glitter paper for the white caps on the waves.  And my sun has some shimmer added to it with our Clear Shimmer Brush.  And notice that I used our Silver Foil paper to frame my scene.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I would love for you to show me a little love by leaving me a comment and then please go to our next artist, {Cat Nowak's Blog} and see what she has made.

This hop I am following {Melissa Robinson's Blog.}   We have 20 Close to My Heart Consultants participating in this Christmas Card Blog Hop. If you lose your place while traveling through our blog hop, the complete list of participants can be found here.

This year has gone by super fast and Christmas is almost upon us.  It is time to make our Christmas cards and we hope that you will find some great ideas for your cards.

I really wanted to use our Beary Christmas Paper Pack (X7225B) for my card.  I love the reds and the greens found in this paper pack.

I also loved the card found in our Holiday Expressions Idea Book using the flamingo and snow globe, so I decided to recreate this card using Beary Christmas paper.

Here is my card.

See the cranberry shadow behind the snow globe?  I used the Two Tier Eclipse technique to add a little pizzaz to my card. I started out with the idea of cutting a word out with my thin cuts but was inspired by the Warmest Wishes Stamp set and thin cuts. (Z3385).  This is such a wonderful stamp set.  I used almost every stamp in this set making this card.  Love it!

The November Stamp of the Month is entitled Through the Year (S1711) (Set of  28).   Here is a picture of this stamp set:

A few years ago, Close to My Heart retired their Event Calendar.  It was a wonderful product that had a page for each month where you could write in your family's birthdays and anniversaries - important dates that you want to remember.  They were awesome to give to new family members and I miss them a great deal.

I decided to recreate one of these calendars and am ready to show you the pages I have finished using this wonderful stamp set.  I also included the Adventure Fundamentals and the Whimsy Fundamentals in this project.  They are featured in our November Just for Fun Special.

Here are some of pages in my perpetual calendar.  We will be having another blog hop on the 16th featuring the November Fundamentals special so I will show you the rest of the calendar then.

I used a ton of different inks on my project.  I will include a complete list of products with my next post.
